What Does The Following MRI Report Suggest?

Have just had an MRI. summary says The findings suggest L5/S1 disc sequestration with mass effect on left S1 nerve root. L3/4 and L4/5 early central spinal canal stenosis. Have looked up re disc sequestration and understand that but what is mass Effect ? Thanks Ann

Hi,

In radiology, mass effect is spoken for pressing of some part of the body by something. In your report , the slight sequestration of the disc is pressing little over the nerve. That's what is meant by mass effect.
