Can you explained my mri results. There is preservation of vertebral body height and alignment There is multiple schmorl s nodes in the lower thoracic and upper lumbar spine The distal cord conus and cauda quina are within normal limits At l3-l4 the disc appears desiccated with a posterior annular fissure. The is a minor disc bulge At l4-l5 there is minor disc bulge and dehydrated disc At l5-s1 there is a minor central disc bulge and desiccated disc . There is no large disc herniation and no nerve root displacement. What can I do to help my back
First of all, it's sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, MRI shows mild disc bulge which can be causing nerve compression though gross dissection of the nerve root isn't visible.
Also, a large bulge is not present. It means hopefully with Medical therapy and precautions you can get better.
Avoiding heavy weight lifting, postural care, using lumbar support with belt etc may cause gradual betterment. If the problem persists neurosurgeon review may be needed.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care

Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physicia

What Does The Following MRI Result Indicate?
Hi, First of all, it s sad to know what you had been going through lately. Based on the history you have shared, MRI shows mild disc bulge which can be causing nerve compression though gross dissection of the nerve root isn t visible. Also, a large bulge is not present. It means hopefully with Medical therapy and precautions you can get better. Meanwhile, OTC analgesics like acetaminophen or Ibuprofen can be helpful. If pain is severe nerve pain suppressants like gabapentin can be used. Avoiding heavy weight lifting, postural care, using lumbar support with belt etc may cause gradual betterment. If the problem persists neurosurgeon review may be needed. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physicia
