Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My MRI results came back with the impression Osteoarthritis with Extensive cartilage Erosions in the Patellofemoral Joint and medial Joint compartment. Small Enffusion. I have been dealing with this for 25 years, it was due to a car accident. Will i need just a knee cap replacement or a whole knee replacement or what?
Based on the MRI report along, a decision of surgery cannot be made. It depends on if you are in pain or have restriction of movement and to what degree. * do you have any other medical concerns? Or take any medications? * how old are you? What is your height and weight? *How would you describe the pain and you level of activity?
Severe cartilage damage can weaken the knee joint and lead to altered gait, pain and possible Injuries from falls. I recommend that you talk to an orthopedic surgeon to help assess the need for surgery.
Hope this helps. Please let me know if you have any questions. Wish you good health
