Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Recently my brother has done chest X-ray from 3 different places. First one s report says lung fields - abnormal - evidence of Tuberculosis - discrete linear opacity seen in right lower zone and second one s report says all findings are normal and third one s report says Right Fissural Thickening and Bilateral Prominent Broncho-Vascular Markings are found. My brother has cough for some time and on X-ray it is noticed right side bottom is little different. Please help me understand are these signs of Tuberculosis? Thanks. Suresh
I understand your confusion with the different results from the chest x-rays. Tuberculosis on the other hand is not diagnosed only on the basis of the chest x rays. He may need to do sputum examination with microscopy and sputum cultures to make sure he has tuberculosis or not. I would advise him to talk with his doctor on the need for these tests to make sure if he has tuberculosis. If any of these tests comes out positive then he does have tuberculosis and he needs treatment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
