Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi. I was notified that my x-ray of my lumbar spine shows arthritic changes with mild slippage of the 4th lumbar vertebra over the 5th vertebra as well as minimal disc space narrowing at the 5th lumbar and 1 sacral vertebra. My pcp recommends PT. Will that be good enough to cure me?
Physiotherapy is very commonly suggested for these changes. It will not cure you, but would help to strengthen the muscles in the back and core which should help with pain management and control.
Arthritis can unfortunately only be cured by replacing the affected area but this is not usually done with changes to the vertebra.
I hope this helps
