What Does The Following Abdominal Scan Report Indicate?
Hello Doctor, Recently I had abdomen scan. The result days left ovary shows a cyst measuring 6*5.4 cm. Thin septations in webpattern seen within cyst. Minimal fluid seen in POD. Impression: Left ovarian cyst( likely hemorrhagic cyst) Is this something to worry about? Radiologist said cyst might go by itself in 6 to 12 weeks and he recommended a follow up scan. Thanks, Sri
I have gone thorough your report and I understand your concern.
Ovarian cysts are fairly common in women and named after the contents in them. Hemorrhagic cysts are mostly self resolving and the recommended follow up scan is just to confirm the decrease in its size or it resolving.
There is a small chance of it rupturing, spilling its content in your abdomen. Therefore, if you experience any significant abdominal pain please contact your local ER.
I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to contact HCM again if you have any concerns. Wishing you good health.
