Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi ! I got the blood test report it shows the ESR 1st Hrs fall value of 126mm. As I am a male of 65 years old. Please advise how can I control this value and what are the reasons for this high value and also what are the symptoms it will arise in my body.
High erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR). A high ESR is associated with chronic infections like tuberculosis or rheumatic fever, autoimmune disorders like rheumatoid arthritis or lupus, and blood diseases like anemia or cancers like lymphoma and multiple myeloma. It is not a diagnostic test but it helps in supporting a diagnosis. Depending upon the underlying condition the associated symptoms may be chronic cough, fever, joint pain or stiffness, fatigue, weight loss, diarrhea, constipation, abdominal pain, blood in the stool or urine. You are advised to see your doctor for proper clinical evaluation to find out the exact underlying cause for high ESR.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Mohammed Taher Ali, General & Family Physician
