Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does The Following Brain Scan Result Indicate?
I ve been suffering for headaches for several months. A brain scan was performed with the following results. FINDINGS: No acute territorial infarct. No hemorrhage. No hydrocephalus. No midline shift. About the left posterior parietal region is a CSF attenuating ovoid structure, which measures approximately 1.4 cm AP x 2.5 cm transverse. An intra- or extra-axial lesion is possible or potentially a fluid collection. Additional characterization with MRI of the brain with and without contrast is recommended as benign and malignant etiologies are possible. IMPRESSION: 1. Ovoid CSF attenuating collection or lesion about the left posterior parietal region as discussed above. Both benign and malignant etiologies are possible. An additional characterization of the finding with MRI the brain with and without contrast is recommended if not contraindicated. Waiting to speak with a neurologist on this. Is this something serious?
It could be non-drainage of fluid inside the brain which needs to circulate and its build up and can cause increased brain pressure and headache. You should have a contrast and an angio.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Harshita, Ophthalmologist
