General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Interstitial lung disease (ILD) refers to more than 200 chronic lung disorders, including pulmonary fibrosis.

With ILD, the tissue between the air sacs of the lungs (the interstitium) is affected by inflammation or scarring (fibrosis).

The idiophragmatic tenting refers to the peaked or tented appearance of a hemidiaphragm which can occur in the setting of lobar collapse.

It is commonly seen in the collapse of the left or right upper lobes but may also be seen in middle lobe collapse.

Hyperaeration or hyperinflation is where the lung volume is abnormally increased, with increased filling of the alveoli.

This results in an increased radiolucency on X-ray, a reduction in lung markings and depression of the diaphragm.

Hyperinflated lungs occur when air gets trapped in the lungs and causes them to overinflate.

Hyperinflated lungs are often seen in people with the chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) — a disorder that includes emphysema. Certain lung problems, such as asthma and cystic fibrosis, also can cause hyperaeration.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
