Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I went to one ER they told me I had a staghorn stone 1.2 cm in my left kidney and to take keflex for uti infection. They said stone had to be removed it was odd shaped and to big. A few days later I am very sick and out of town and go to another ER I am on way to get another CT and the first ER calls me tells me to stop taking keflex take bactrim cause culture came back and I need stonger one. I tell the ER doc this anyway this ER doc tells me I don t have staghorn stone just regular stone and didn t perscribe antibiotics I told him they called in bactrim. So here it is two or three days later I am sic as a dog I am at home and in bed all day thinking should I go to ER. I am thinking I feel poison iny body and I am hurting all over. I am lying here and get a call from last ER I was seen in and the nurse tells me if I am taking any antibiotics to stop and he has to call me in one called macrobid. I then go on line and check my lab results and noticed my creatine level was 1.18 . I feel like by now I probably need iv antibiotics I don t know. Is this creatine level ok and do you think the antibiotic I am on now will do the trick? Do I have a staghorn stone or not? How will I know for sure cause this can t be good being in my kidney right?
As per the narration and my clinical experience co relation, the current condition is drug resistant UTI. The creatinine level of 1.18 is absolutely fine and nothing wrong with it, you can continue the antibiotic as per the guideline of your doctor.
The culture specific antibiotic is the best way to get cured earliest. Issue of whether the stone is stag horn or not, depends upon the shape of the stone only; for which I require an X-ray plate to comment.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
