Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Physical showed I was severely anemic. Had endoscopy and colonoscopy: Impressions Endoscopy: LA Grade A reflux esophagitis. Biopsied. Erythematous mucosa in the antrum. Biopsied. Normal examined duodenum. Biopsied. Impressions colonoscopy: Diverticulosis in the sigmoid colon. A single non-bleeding colonic angioectasia. Internal hemorrhoids. The examination was otherwise normal. Can you help explain these in laymens terms. Thanks!
According to these examination I would say that your gastrointenstimal tract has some conditions :
- In esophagus you have acid reflux , acid from stomach go to esophagus causing damage of mucosa called esophagitis . The reflux esophagitis is state A ( damage of mucosa -Diverticulosis - in Sigma colon -it consist of a herniation mucosa through the thickened colonic muscle. We use the term diverticulosis when there are diverticula which are asymptomatic .
- Colon angioectasia -small vascular malformation of the gut. Can be the cause of bleeding and Amelia . - Internal hemorrhoid -swallen veins inside the colon ,they cause pain itching , bleeding. These conditions cause bleeding and may be the reason of your anemia when they complicate . I would suggest to avoid constipation and when if you have bleeding call you doctor .
Wish you good health.
