What Does The Following Hematology Report Indicate?

I have had recent hematology a day after a steroid shot and it is very out of normal in many ranges. WBC,mch, neutrophils,Metamyelocytes all high- some not by much however neutrophils and Metamyelocytes are double the high range. RBC and lymphocytes are low. Could the steroid shot cause all these fluctuations? I have not been ill other than sciatica the day before the lab work, hence the steroid shot.

Hello,

It shows that you have an infection most likely bacterial. If you develop any kind of symtoms like fever, body aches etc then you should consult a doctor.Long term steroid use can increase the tendency to get exposed to infections but single steroid shot has nothing to do with it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Muhammad Zeeshan Akram
