Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi , My husband got his lab result back and i can not understand the bold A 1000 IU/L for Hep Surface Antibody (HBsAb) The test result is as follows: - HEP B Surface Antigen (HBsAG): NEG - HEP B Surface Antibody (HBsAb): A 1000 IU/L (Consistent with immunity to HBV if HBsAg is non-reactive) Please advise
1)HEP B surface antigen Negative means there is no infection of hepatitis B virus.
2)Presence of antibodies indicates there might have been an infection earlier. Plus there is immunity if the antibodies are non reactive. That means there is no infection plus there is immunity also.
Hope I have answered your queries. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
Dr. Prabhakar Laxman Jathar, Diabetologist
