What Does The Following Liver Function Test Report Indicate?
How should I interpret the findings in the LFT test. BILIRUBIN, DIRECT is 0.22 in the reports ASPARTATE AMINOTRANSFERASE (AST/SGOT) is 50 in the reports. ALANINE AMINOTRANSFERASE (ALT/SGPT) is 135 in the reports. GAMMA GLUTAMYL TRANSFERASE (GGT) is 133 in the reports.
The SGPT and GGT are specific for liver and bile canaliculi. SGOT is not specific for liver and bilirubin is within range. You can have underlying liver pathology like hepatitis, fatty liver or some gall bladder issue like cholangitis or stone. You need to investigate further with ultrasonography of abdomen as well.
