What Does The Following Lumbar MRI Report Suggest?

Hi. I just received my Lumbar MRI report and I don t understand the following statement (among other things, obviously): There are degenerative changes of the facet joints with moderate narrowing of the right and left neural foramina. A small synovial cyst is noted posterior to the right facet joint. Will you be so kind and explain it to me in simple words?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The MRI report suggests that degenerative changes mean it started to erode but may not be continuing. As age advances some short of degenerative changes observed in various body parts.

Second thing neural facets got small means there is a hole in the spine for passing nerves. This hole is minimised in size.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nirav Nimavat, General & Family Physician
