Emg of the left lower extremity is abnormal indicating moderate degree of acute and chronic lumbar radiculopathy at levels of L5-S1. S1 innervation muscles showing moderate acute denervation potentials. Paraspinal muscles between L5 and S1 show acute innervation on the left side. Peroneal, posterior tibial and surat nerve conduction show mild to moderate slowing indicating sensor motor peripheral neuropathy of both lower extremities from diabetes mellitus. No evidence of lumbar plexopathy or myopathy
You have developed some peripheraly neuropathy due to diabetes. It is very important that you get good treatment for diabetes and have sugar levels under control so the neuropathy does not progress.
Also, there is some pressure on one of the nerves that come out of the spine in the lower back. This is called radiculopathy and is a very common finding. Paracetamol, ibuprofen, and physiotherapy is all that is needed most of the time.
I hope this is helpful. I remain at your disposal for further medical assistance.
Regards, Dr. Antoneta Zotaj General and Family Physician
