What Does The Following Semen Analysis Report Mean?
hi doctor it is my Semen analysis report I hope you will guide me about it in my Semen analysis report age 28, quality 3 ml ,viscosity normal, reaction alkaline ,liquification 30 ,count 58 million per ml, active 52% sluggish 30, non motile 38, pus cells 10 to 15, Spermatogenic cells + Few, abnormal 10%

Hello. It looks like you have some urinary infection (pus cells 10 to 15). Otherwise your semen analysis looks fine. In a normal semen analysis the following characteristics are seen
1. Movement- more than 50 percent of sperm must move normally an hour after ejaculation
2. PH- A pH level should be between 7.2 and 7.8 to achieve a normal result. A pH level higher than 8.0 could indicate the donor has an infection. A result less than 7.0 could indicate the specimen is contaminated or that the man’s ejaculatory ducts are blocked
3. Volume- The volume of sperm for a normal result should be greater than 2 millimeters.
4. Liquefaction- It should take 15 to 30 minutes before semen liquefies. If semen does not liquefy in 15 to 30 minutes, fertility could be affected.
5. Sperm Count- The sperm count in a normal semen analysis should be between 20 million to over 200 million.
6. Appearance- The appearance should be whitish to gray and opalescent. Semen that has a red-brown tint could indicate the presence of blood while a yellow tint could indicate jaundice or be a medication side effect.
7. Sperm can be abnormal in several ways. They may have two heads or two tails, a short tail, a tiny head (pinhead), or a round (rather than oval) head. Abnormal sperm may not be able to move normally or to penetrate an egg. Some sperm that aren't normal are usually found in every normal semen sample. But a high percentage of abnormal sperm may make it harder for a man to father a child.
8. More than 50% of the sperm show normal forward movement after 1 hour.
