Patient is 12 year old boy. No coughing, no chest pain or throat pain but once daily has sputum tinged with blood. His sputum report is as follows. PUS CELLS: 25/LPFEPITHELIAL CELLS: 4-5/LPFGRAM POSITIVE COCCI SEEN IN PAIRS AND CHAINS: (++) What could it mean?
Pus cells and gram positive cocci suggestive towards presence of infection with bacteria like staphylococcus. But here further investigation needed in form of sputum culture and chest x ray.
