What Does The Following Stool Report Of A Infant Indicate?
There is fat in his stool. This could be a sign of malabsorption (impaired absorption of fat resulting in fat containing foul smelling diarrhea). There are many causes for this condition, including infection, inflammation of the intestine, enzyme deficiency and others. Further evaluation includes fecal fat test, which consists of detailed assessment of the amount and quality of fat in stool.
