What Does The Following Stress Test Report Suggest?

The patient was injected at rest with 10.4 mCi of 99m Tc sestamibi with rest images done 45 minutes later. The patient then returned for stress images, received 0.4 mg of IV regadenoson and did 4 minutes of low level exercise. She was injected at peak stress with 32.8 mCi of 99m Tc sestamibi with stress images done 60 minutes later. FINDINGS: SPECT images post stress reveal this is a technically limited nuclear myocardial perfusion study. There is a large area of decreased counts seen of the inferior wall. This defect does not change significantly on rest images. The inferior defect is not seen on prone imaging and is related to soft tissue attenuation artifact, further supported by the evaluation of the rotating raw images and the presence of extracardiac counts on the SPECT images. Additionally, there is a small area of decreased counts seen in the distal anterior wall. Again, this does not change significantly on rest imaging. It is less prominent on prone imaging. There is normal wall thickening and wall movement seen here and this is again related to breast attenuation artifact. The LV size is normal. Segmental function is normal. EF is normal at 62%. FINAL IMPRESSIONS: 1. Technically limited nuclear myocardial perfusion imaging study without evidence of ischemia or infarction with multiple limitations as outlined above. 2. The left ventricle is normal in size. The ejection fraction is normal at 62%.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Basically, the report is saying that your stress test was normal, except that certain areas of the heart showed some abnormalities that they think was just soft tissue (skin, fat and muscle) blocking the scan.

But they can't say for sure. The long explanation is just to give further evidence that, from what they could see, there was nothing wrong with the heart.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Aaron Branch, General & Family Physician
