What Does The Following Thyroid Function Test Report Suggest?
Hi I am 44 years old male. I got my blood sample test results for Thyroid Functions & Antibodies as detailed below; FT4 - THYROXINE, FREE 18.15 pmol/I FT3 - TRIODOTHYRONINE, FREE 6.13 pmol/l TSH - THYROID STIMULATING HORMONE 4.82 ulU/ml ANTI THYROGLOBULIN ANTIBODY [ATG] - 15.77 ANTI MICROSOMAL ANTIBODY [AMA] - 278 THE ABOVE VALUE FOR ANTI MICROSOMAL ANTIBODY [AMA] IS VERY HIGH THE NORMAL RANGE IS BELOW 34. PLEASE EXPLAIN
Anti-thyroglobulin antibody (Reference range anti-microsomal antibody (Reference range Thyroxine, free (fT4) (Reference range 9.0–16 pmol/L) 18.15-within normal limit.
You have subclinical hypothyroidism due to autoimmune hypothyroidism. Need follow-up Thyroid function tests, as it is important to confirm that any elevation of TSH is sustained over a 3-month period before treatment is given.
If TSH crosses 10 mIU/L,you will need thyroxine replacement therapy-starting with a low dose of levothyroxine (25–50 μg/d) with the goal of normalizing TSH. If Levothyroxine is not given, thyroid function should be evaluated annually.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
