What Does The Following Thyroid Ultrasound Report Mean?

I have had difficulty swallowing and had a thyroid US done which showed and enlarged and hypervascular thyroid gland associated with a heterogenous mixed cystic nodule associated with macro and microcalcifications. I am scheduled for a FNA late next week, but am anxious about what the US means and percentages of cancer vs non cancer

Welcome to health care magic.

1.The report suggest the gland seen enlarged with increased vascularity - this condition is seen in the inflammatory condition and presence of masses.
2.There are cystic structures with cystic and solid component with calcification.
3. This features are seen in the colloid cystic lesions - benign condition.
4.But calcification micro / macro are seen more in the malignancy condition.
5.However definitive diagnosis is only given by FNAC - fine needle aspiration cytology report.

Good luck.
