What Does The Following Transvaginal Ultrasound Result Indicate?

Yesterday a transvaginal ultrasound revealed what is suspected as an endometrioma type cyst on an ovary about 4cm. I was told to have surgery to remove it and the ovary. Is there another way to treat these. I have a cruise vacation planned in early June and I am concerned about being healed from surgery. My other concern is that if I don't have surgery to remove it, it could burst while on the cruise and cause complications.

Also does the presence of an endometrioma mean I also have endometriosis? Do either or both these conditions go away after menopause? I am about forty five and finished having children.
Any suggestions?

Welcome to health care magic.

1.Its all depend on what symptoms bothering you, weather manageable or severe first thing. Second what exactly the report mentioned about cyst - complex / simple.
2.In this case complex has to be operated as chances of malignant are there. If you are symptomatic with heavy bleed and lower abdominal discomfort - in both these case its not recommended to operate.
3.Endometrioma - is about mass lesion, endometriosis - endometrial changes out side the uterus.
4.In this case hormonal treatment and finally operative.
5.I would recommend to get operated, depending on symptoms and findings - you can take your time and get it done.
6.The cyst will not rupture on vacation as it is small - however depend on how the scan described the cyst. Good luck.
