Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Does The Following Ultrasound Report Indicate?
Sir, I had an ultrasound done yesterday at 27 weeks of my pregnancy level II. I have two queries related to scan. 1. Posterior Gr II 16 MM from Internal OS. 2. Right Renal Pelvis is dialated 5 MM and Left 3.8 MM. Kindly advise if there is any thing to worry and what is this problem all about and precautions to be taken for the above.
Th ultrasound indicates a minor dilatation of ureter (tube that carries urine from kidneys to bladder) on left side of baby. This is very common finding in early scans. Most are physiological and will resolve its own by the time of delivery. Also, usually we take it significant when the diameter is >10mm (here it is 5). If at all it is persisting in coming follow up scans, we can do an ultrasound of the baby after birth and decide accordingly.
Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam TK, Pediatrician
