What Does The Growth In The Neck Indicate?
Hello. My son has a growth in his neck, that he discovered yesterday, while shaving. Because there is hypothyroidism in our family, I m wondering if it might be a goitre, however it is painful when pressed down upon. I m assuming we should just call his doctor for an evaluation?

Since you have a family history of thyroid issues, it could be a thyroid nodule or goiter. You are suggested to get your son clinically examined & get CT & MRI done to confirm diagnosis. His treatment will depend on the pathology detected. However, other medical conditions that may have similar symptoms are skin cyst, benign tumor, lumps in the neck can be caused by torticollis or injury.Get him evaluated at the earliest & treated.
