Can you please help me to know what is the name of this disease.I have this physical examination and preliminary laboratory results : The right lower limb is noticeably shorter than the left. The right limb is externally rotated, and the patient is unable to changethe limb's position without considerable pain.On palpation, the groin is tender ,but no swelling is obvious.Passive movement of the hip causes extreme pain, especially upon external and internal rotation. WBC is 20000/mm^3. Hgb is 9.8gm/dl
So what is your preliminary diagnosis of this patient? and how do you account for the lab results ?which part of the body is effected?
The fecalysis report of your son seems to be normal. There are no pus cells, no red blood cells and no parasites. Bacteria is 3+ but there is nothing to worry about as your baby's stool doesnt show pus cells ( WBCs). These are the commensal bacteria of the intestine. According to me it looks like a viral diarrhea. Baby is also active and happy. So you can manage at home . Start ORS solution instead of plain water. Give normal healthy diet. Zinc syrup equivalent to 20 mg should be given everyday for 14 days. Viral diarrhea takes some 7-8 days to recover but continue zinc till 14 days. Take your baby to doctor if baby's food intake decreases to much lower level say 60 % of what baby takes or has dry tongue , dry eyes , lethargic , highly irritable, has high grade fever, or there is change in nature and increased frequency of passing stool.
