What Does The Lump On Top Side Of The Wrist Indicate?

My son has a lump (feels hard like bone) on top side of his wrist. It hurts when he pushes down on wrist but no pain when pressing his hand upward. Lump hasn t been there long but he was crying when he accidentally hit it while playing. What might be the cause of this lump?

it can be ganglion or a cyst. requires to be examined by doctor for diagnosis and proper treatment can be recommended. till such time wrist band can be applied and give rest to joint.
