I am 45 years old and just recently had urinalysis taken. The result showed that I have a UTI. I just finished taking the antibiotic prescribed to me for 7 days. Repeat Urinalysis was taken today and Pus cells shows 45-50/hpf. What does this mean?
Hi If you have just finished the course of antibiotics, then it is common to have persistent pus cells in urine as it will take some time for it to decrease. I presume the antibiotics were given according to culture and sensitivity report - if not submit another fresh specimen for culture.
If the pus cells persists after 6 weeks then have an ultrasound of your urinary tract to evaluate the cause.
