What Does The Mri Report Regarding The Brain Indicate?

Hi, my husband had an MRI of his brain which shows Deep White Matter Infarction & Chronic Ischemic change and Gliosis in both frontal lobes. There is also a small white matter lesion in the left parietal lobe also due to chronic white matter disease. What does this mean for a 52 year old man?

Hi,
Thanks for using healthcaremagic.
Deep white matter infarction and chronic ischemic changes are same. It occurs due to blockage of microvasculature and small infarctions of the white matter of brain. These do not cause severe problems/symptoms and can be ignored.
Gliosis in both frontal lobes are a result of some previous insult. He must have had some previous hemorrhage/stroke or some surgical procedure which causes this gliosis. This can cause some symptoms as well.
Small white matter lesion can also be ignored.
The major finding is the gliosis which is a result of old insult. So nothing much to worry right now in the brain MRI.
You can contact me for further queries if any.
Hope it sorts your problem.
