What Does The Pap Smear Test Results Indicate?

I just received my pap smear test results and was told I have Endometrial cells showing in my pap smear. The office told me to come back in a year and we ll watch things closely. I ve lost a sister to cervical cancer who had a cyst that the doctor said they would watch closely . I also lost my father to pancreatic cancer. I m 50 years old, have heavy periods with clotting. I m done having children. I think being proactive is wiser than the wait and watch approach. When I discussed this with my doctor s office they felt the surgery would be elective and possibly not covered by insurance. Why would this be considered elective ? Wouldn t it be better to take care of this before it can turn into something more?
