What Does The Platelet Count In The Below Blood Report Suggest?

Just had my physical and all was very good except as I looked at the blood test results once I got home, I see: Platelet Count of 360 vs a min. of 128 to 311 --my Doctor said I was doing fine as I am 65 years of age What does the higher number mean? Thank you

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
The platelt count of 360 what you are having is quite acceptable and normal although it is slightly higher than the range of 128 to 311.
If it goes beyond 450, then the condition is termed as 'Thrombocytosis' or 'Thrombocythemia'. This condition carries certain risk and can cause clotting or bleeding complications.
So, at this point of time, there is nothing much to worry about the platelet count.
Hope the information provided would be helpful.
Wish you good health.
