Hello and welcome to HCM,
HCG levels are elevated during
pregnancy.
The levels of beta-HCG rise during pregnancy and double every 24 hours during early pregnancy.
The levels of beta-HCG rise abnormally in certain conditions.
High levels of beta-HCG are seen in molar pregnancy.
Molar pregnancy is one in which the trophoblastic tissue undergoes neoplastic growth and the fetus does not develop.
Molar pregnancy is of two types- partial and complete.
In partial mole there is partial development of fetus and in complete mole there is complete development of molar pregnancy only and no development of fetus.
However, this just one possibility.
A molar pregnancy can be picked up on
ultrasound.
If molar pregnancy is present, it will show up on ultrasound.
Consult your gynecologist for further management.
Thanks and take care
