Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My mother has acid reflux: had 2 edoscopies. 1st one results - active inflamation - diagnosos Barretts esophagus with displasia. 2nd one results biospies taken look good (per the doctor who performed the endoscopy). What does the results of the 2nd endoscopy mean?
Please provide the final impression of the endoscopy to comment . Looks good is not an impression . The first one says your mom has Barrets oesaghagus which means that the normal squamous epitheium is geeting replaced by columnar epithelium . Barrett’s esophagus is the most common precancerous condition of the esophagus. I presume that with her current treatment her second biopsy is showing probably reversal of changes which is a very positive sign. so pleas e read the final impression of the biopsy report to understand better or you can ask your GI doctor who did the scopy.
