What Does The Spot On The Left Side Of The Chest Indicate?

I am going in for a CT scan tomorrow. My doctor called and informed me that I have a spot on my left chest under my rib cage that showed up in a chest x-ray. They just informed me that it has been there since 2014 but it has increased in size but there s no need to worry. If there s nothing to worry about, what are they checking for?
