Infectious Diseases Specialist, Dr. Arun's Response
having a reddish brown stool with alkaline ph and >=50/hpf protozoa suggest your child is infected with amoeba. entamoeba histolytica the most common species that infects humans. so in treatment part you should start with metronidazole 35-50mg/kg/day in three divided dose+ diloxanide furoate 7mg/kg/day in three divided dose. complete the treatment for 10 days. and all your infections is permanantely cured.
