What Does The Strange Feeling In The Head Of A 93-year-old Indicate?
My mother is 93 and able to live alone and still drives. She has had episodes of what she describes as a strange feeling in her head, not dizziness coupled with a squeezing sensation in the area just above her sternum. It only lasts about 2-3 seconds.
She needs to have EKG to see for the cardiac cause of the squeezing sensation above sternum. Also, this can cause abnormalities to brains blood flow if any arrhythmia is present which may trigger syncope or episodes of feelings of head spinning or vertigo. Also she should be examined for neurological disorders and for any signs of raised intracranial pressure.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you a speedy recovery.
Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
