Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
My husband just had an exam fro life insurance. Can you tell me what this means: Chris' recent exam said: "elevated liver functions - GGTP: 37.0, SGOT: 24.0, SGPT: 61.0, elevated cholestrol ratio - CHOLESTROL RATIO: 4.976."
Hi, I hope you are well, the alterations in your liver chemistry show a slight enzymatic elevation, the upper limit for TGO varies according to the laboratory but in general it is accepted from 35-41. The level of TGP for males should be less than 35. One of the main causes of these mild elevations are caused by fatty liver, both by alcoholic and non-alcoholic affection, also having as aggravating factors any metabolic risk factor Or associated illnesses. If this is the cause, shoud avoid alcohol consumption, lifestyle modification, dietary changes, weight loss of approximately 5-10% of baseline body weight over a period of 6 months to 1 year with monitoring of liver chemistry every 6 months.
