What Does The Ultrasound Scan Finding Of Thickening Of Upper Uterine Layer Indicate?

Hi I went for ultrasound last month and Dr seen Ling ar top of uterus was thicker bit he wasn t sure what it was. States that I need to do d &c. I m a little worried about it not sure what it can be. I always get regular period. Last month it was heavier than usual bit always last 5 days. What do you think it could be?

Hello welcome to HCM. The uterus will be lined every month with the influence of hormone. this will be sheded every month during periods. If ther is disturbance in the hormone level, then the lining thickness also varies. Bleeding duration varies and there could be severe pain. If these symptoms occurs continuously for many months, then the whole lining should be scraped and removed to give way for fresh lining. This procedure is called D & C. If the symptoms were thre for just one or two months, it may come back to normal, You can wait for 2-3 months. If the symptoms are not bearable, then treatement is by D & C. everything will be resolved. Hope i have clarified all your doubts. Take care
