What Does The Ultrasound Scan Report Indicate?

Madam my wife is pregnant and she is on her 8.5month,and got 5 weeks for her delivery period, this is our first baby, she is 25yrs old.on 7th month we had a scan and found Short cervix with closed internal OS.length of cervix :2.6 cm and went for stiches, and she has been taking duposton tablet from beginning, her doctor has asked her to take proluton depot 250 mg every week for the last 8weeks she has been taking it.she is in rest.now we have a doubt if we have to continue the injection as we heard from few who took the injection that their uterus doesn t open up and end up with operation for delivery.and the injection is taken by her in her home by a nurse. Thanks in advance

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Duphaston does not prevent cervical dilatation or onset of labor's. As the labor's pains start, the stitches are removed to allow cervical dilatation. LSCS may be needed in some patient.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
