What Does The Urine Analysis Test Report Indicate?

Hi my sister is 19 weeks and 5 days pregnant, she had her urinalysis and shows WBC 3-5 HPF,Epithelial cells=moderate, mucus threads=rare and Bacteria=few.Should we be worried? Should we go ahead and do some urine culture? What does this levels/result indicate?

Thank you!

Hello and welcome to HCM,
The urine interpretation of urine analysis report is as follows:
The presence of 3-5 white blood cells in urine is suggestive of infection in urine.
Presence of upto 5 white blood cells/hpf is considered normal, however, presence of 3-5 white blood cells/hpf should be interpreted with caution during pregnancy.
Thus, I suggest your sister to get an urine culture to detect infectious bacteria in urine.
If any bacteria is detected in urine, antibiotic appropriate during pregnancy needs to be prescribed by your sister's obstetrician.

Thanks and take care
