What Does Thick White Mucus Discharge During 32 Weeks Of Pregnancy Suggest?

Hi am 32wks pregnant. My discharge is off white which clusters in my panty liner.. it is almost odorless but the thickness worries me...is it normal? Secondly, i feel a watery discharge draining in my liner after peeing, is it urine or aminotic fluid..?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi my dear,

I understand your concerns.

1. White discharge clustering in your panty liner is indicative for possible vaginal candida infection. A vaginal swab testing together with culture of discharge is recommended to determine the right causative agent and the most effective antibiotic/antimycotic medication to use.

2. Watery discharge after peeing might be a sign for possible uro-genital infection. Urine analysis, abdominal ultrasound and physical examination by OG specialist is advised for proper diagnosis and treatment.

Depending on the test results, specific treatment will be prescribed orally and vaginally.

All the best!
