Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I m a healthy 62 year old female. I used to have thick long lashes but they are thinning. I m wondering why and if I could stop them from falling out altogether. I lost my eyebrow hair about 6 years ago and have them tattooed on now and also tattooed my eyeliner about 4years ago.
Eyelashes hypotrichosis is the term for an inadequate amount of eyelashes. Causes are hereditary, post chemotherapy, ageing, trauma to the eye, few medication, trichotillomania or psychiatric illness of pulling off the hair.
Bimatoprost is indicated to treat hypotrichosis of the eyelashes by increasing their growth including length, thickness, and darkness. Latisse (0.03%): 1 gtt on disposable sterile applicator and apply evenly along skin of upper eyelid margin at base of eyelashes on each eye once nightly.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
