What Does This CT Pelvic Scan Report Indicate?

I recently had a CT pelvic scan because of a fibroid tumor. Part of the report from the radiologist says, enlarged uterus measuring 11cm x 8.3 cm x 7.3 cm with low density necroitc changes suspicious for involuting fibroids. Does this mean the fibroid is dying? I am scheduled for surgery in January (hysterectomy) but am thinking now I should wait and watch to see if my mild problematic symptoms subside. (some bladder pressure and dull cramping in the abdomen and lower back and spotting in between periods) By the way I am 48 years old and also recently had an endometrial biopsy that came back negative.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

Yes, it is indicative of fibroid dying. If you do not experience fever or increasing pain you could easily wait it out until surgery.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anders Mark Christensen, General Surgeon
