Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I just had a sinus CT scan done and was told that the inferior turbinate is deformed and that I have moderate diffuse turbinate hyper trophy as well as a deviated nasal septum to the left with a large leftward bony spur. What does this mean and what will the surgeon do during my surgery next week to fix this problem?
The deviated nasal septum can be managed surgically. The deviated nasal septum is responsible for diffuse turbinate hypertrophy. Surgical correction of nasal septum will correct the hypertrophied turbinate also.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
