What Does This CT Scan Report Mean?

CT scan showed that I have a left plural effusion and left base atelectalic which happened after I had a CA done thru my left side rather than the chest. I am in pain which seems to be increasing and a fracture of the left sixth rib. What does this mean and how long before I start to feel better?

Hello,

The CT report means that in your left lung there is a liquid and stiffness of that area. Also, one of your ribs is broken and that is what is the cause of the pain.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Jolanda Nikolla, Pulmonologist
