What Does This CT Scan Report Of The Paranasal Sinuses Indicate?

I have suffered from sinus problem since arriving in Australia in 1989 over the years it appears to be dramatically worse. I am a 58 year old female, weighing 68kl, height 1.5626 mtrs. Occasionally, when bending down and forward my nose drips. I recently had a CT PARANASAL of the SINUSES. Conclusion: paranasal sinuses and drainage pathways appear clear with no significant sinusitis. Rhinitis with mucosal hypertrophy, most marked at the inferior turbinate with associated small soft tissue polyps. Mild nasal septal deviation convex to the right with a broad nasal septal spur at the mid nasal septum to the right.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, small soft tissue polyp with mucosa hypertrophy indicates secondary changes of benign condition and associated allergy manifestations.

* In my clinic, I do recommend conservative line of management in usual cases and polypectomy surgery only in selected number of cases with specific indications as:

@ patient choice
@ no response to drugs
@ worsening symptoms day by day

My guidelines at present

- Inhalation of vapors of boiled water added Karvol capsule or tincture benzoin

- avoidance of exposure to cold or atmospheric pollen
- wear face mask wisely
- avoid primary or secondary smoke exposure
- regular walking in fresh air
- deep breathing exercises, YOGA
- immediate treatment of any minor or major respiratory tract infection

* For rest of the guidelines, please remain in contact and follow up with your doc.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
