Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
CT scan says i have moderate peripheral cortical atrophy at the brain vertex for a patient of this age. To a lesser extent, simular changes are noted along both cerebral convexities I am 27. What does this mean exactly? What should I expect in the future?
You are too young to have a CT report like this. You have not mentioned anything regarding your past illness or event that has occurred that caused you symptoms. Since the CT shows Moderate peripheral cortical atrophy and similar changes in the cerebral convexities, you are suggested to get treatment at the earliest. You are young and the changes are moderate, there are chances of recovery. The CT indicates loss of neurons and cells in a moderate level.
Neglect may lead to worsening of the symptoms, it may affect only a limited area of the brain and resulting in a decrease of the functions that area of the brain controls moderately. Get treated for the pathology that is causing such symptoms at the earliest. Treatment can partially reverse this atrophy, leading to growth rather than further loss. There is hope since it has moderately affected. Stay away from stress, anxiety and addictions if any.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Nupur K., General & Family Physician
