I ve had two abnormal ECG results that say I have Left Ventricle Hypertrophy and Left Atrial Enlargement. I have fatigue, pounding in my chest and occasional chest pains, I went to ER for chest pains in August but no Dr. mentioned this, I found it in my medical records. I made an appointment with a cardiologist as my symptoms have become worse but I won t see him for another week. I was hoping you could give me some answers on condition? Please and Thank you.
Hello. Thanks for using healthcaremagic.com I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns. As per your ECG report, two of your heart chambers(left atria and left ventricle) are enlarged. You don't have to worry that much, but a detailed cardiac evaluation is needed to rule out some valvular diseases. Hypertrophy is nothing but enlargement heart chamber. Its quiet common in people aged over fifty and in hypertensives. An echo cardiogram is needed to look for some valvular heart diseases like MS(mitral stenosis),MR(mitral regurgitation). We have to calculate the ejection fraction(A measure of efficiency of heart) prior to treatment. You might also need a TMT (Tread Mill Test). I suggest you to consult a cardiologist and he will guide you accordingly. The condition can be managed conservatively by medicines and life style modifications. The chances for surgical intervention is very unlikely.
Hope I have answered your query. Regards.
