Hello,
Your 2D echocardiography report says your heart is almost normal anatomically but functionally there is left
ventricular remodeling. Concentric left ventricular remodeling, is a sign of progressive heart failure. So your left ventricular muscle mass increased due to sympathetic stimulation.
Drugs that prevent further cardiovascular remodeling are ACE inhibitors like captopril, enalapril, lisinopril, Ramipril, beta blockers like Carvedilol, Bisoprolol, Metoprolol and Digoxin. Please do
consult a cardiologist once and get prescription of any of the above drugs.
A few causes of concentric left ventricular remodeling are
uncontrolled hypertension, after an episode of
myocardial infarction, narrowing of aortic valve,
hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, and amyloidosis. Physiological ventricular remodeling occurs in athletes.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
