Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I had a echo and Doppler after my ct showed a TIA.....the results of echo were a borderline mild dilatation of the left atrium and diastolic dysfunction of the left ventricle. The Doppler stated moderate diffuse atherosclerosis but no severe stenosis of carotid vertebral system bilaterally. What does that mean and what can I do to fix them.

Thanks for your question through HCM
Echo is nothing but a scan of heart function and structure
mild dilatation of left atrium means that chamber of heart due to overload tissue becomes weak in fuction to some extent

What Does This Echo Report Mean?
Thanks for your question through HCM Echo is nothing but a scan of heart function and structure mild dilatation of left atrium means that chamber of heart due to overload tissue becomes weak in fuction to some extent TIA means transient ischemic attack to brain due to decreases blood supply to brain tissue as there is moderate diffuse atherosclerosis in carotid vertebral system blood supply to brain reduce little extent due to blockage of vessels so you need to take antiplatelet agents along with statins which decreases cholestral accumulation in blood vessels like carotid and vertebral systems you will get improvement surely if you change your life style avoiding smoking ,alcohol, need good physical excercise monitoring lipid prifile ,CBP serum creatinine every month will show the improvement in health
